Unit Load Devices
Air Containers or to give them their proper name Unit Load Devices are commonly known as ULD's. Most companies involved in exporting goods will never see these containers as they are normally packed at the airport terminal by special handling companies primarily as a security measure.
Whilst ULD's come in standard sizes, unlike Ocean containers the airlines are free to decide in what combination and configuration these different ULD's are used. This also varies not only from aircraft type to aircraft type, but also airline to airline as well as whether the flight concerned is primarily a cargo or passenger flight.
